COMPARATIVE STUDY OF THE USE OF RICE HUSK ASH, FLY ASH, PERIWINKLE SHELL AND GYPSUM AS STABILIZING AGENT FOR CLAY
Fly ash, rice husk ash (RHA), gypsum, and littorina littorea (periwinkle) shell powder were used to stabilize clay soil. The soil is classed as an A – 6(11) soil / medium coarse sandy clay soil. The test results showed that fly ash is the best stabilizing material, followed by gypsum. The periwinkle shell did not increase the shear strength of the soil and RHA decreased it.

GARAGE DOOR OPENER USING AN RF REMOTE CONTROL
This paper concerns itself with the principle of operation of the garage door opener from being physically operated to automation using RF remote control technique, allowing the user to remotely control the garage door from a distance of about 15m. This work can be applicable to both residential and commercial buildings.

CENTRAL COMPOSITE DESIGNS ROBUST TO A PAIR OF MISSING VALUES IN FOUR FACTORS EXPERIMENTS
This work investigates alpha values for which Four-factor central composite designs are robust to a pair of missing observations under the minimaxloss criterion. Four different configurations of factorial (F) and Axial (A) parts of the designs are studied. These configurations are: design with single replication of both factorial and axial part (F + A), design with single replication of factorial and double replication of axial part (2F + 2A), design with double replication of both factorial and axial part (2F + 2A) and design with double replication of factorial and single replication of axial parts (2F + A).

USE OF MELON HUSK AND MELON HUSK ASH AS PARTIAL REPLACEMENT MATERIAL FOR GYPSUM IN POP BOARD
Citrullus Vulgaris (melon) when burnt at very high temperature produced ash of similar characteristics as rice husk ash (RHA), pozzolanic in nature, having good binding properties. Up to 30% of gypsum (the essential ingredient of POP board) can be replaced with this ash, thus reducing cost. On the other hand melon husk (unbuunt) can not be used as replacement materials for gypsum as more than 10% of it showed a fall in compressive strength.

CASE STUDIES IN PUBLIC PRIVATE PARTNERSHIP (PPP): THE NIGERIAN INFRASTRUCTURAL CHALLENGE PERSPECTIVE.
This paper investigated Nigerian Federal Government's participation in Public Private Partnership contracts as a paradigm shift from the traditional methods of government's 100 percent funding of contracts in the country. A comparative study of subsisting PPP contracts in Nigerian Seaports and airports from 1999-2009 was conducted. The main objective of study is to appraise the subsisting PPP arrangements in Nigerian seaports and airports, the successes, problems, and failures in PPP contracts. The paper adopted the content analysis of library materials, publications, internet materials and other documented researches pertaining to the subject matter as its methodology. Findings of this study confirm improved performance in Nigerian Seaports from 2007 when private operators took over seaports operation.

STRUCTURAL FEATURES WITHIN PART OF BORNU BASIN, NORTH-EASTRN NIGERIA, USING SEISMIC DATA
In the analysis of structural features of this study area, the Bornu basin provides possible source rocks, reservoir beds and structural environment which is required for the formation of hydrocarbon. The thrust of this work is to identify the structural features displayed in the seismic section. The study area lies within the northeast end of Nigeria between latitude 120 19'N and 120 28'N and longitude 130 14' E and 130 25'E.

GEOPHYSICAL INVESTIGATION OF GROUNDWATER CONTAMINATION AROUND A DUMPSITE IN IKOT EKPENE, NIGERIA, USING THE VERTICAL ELECTRICAL SOUNDING (VES) METHOD
In the geophysical investigation of the groundwater contamination around a dumpsite in Ikot Ekpene, the vertical electrical sounding (VES) method was used to investigate the groundwater quality in the area. The study area is located along the Cardinal Ekanem Avenue in Ikot Ekpene, 20m from Ikot Ekpene club house and delineated between latitude 5010'N and 5014'N and longitude 7040'E and 70 45'E. The study is aimed at determining the presence of any contamination of the groundwater as well as assessing the extent of contamination with distant from the site.

ENVIRONMENTAL IMPACT OF TOURISM: IMPLICATIONS FOR NIGERIA'S TOURISM DEVELOPMENT
Tourism can produce fallouts which degrade the environment and ultimately prove detrimental to tourism itself. Often, unsustainable practices spoil the very attraction(s) that informed tourism in the first instance; leaving destinations unattractive and avoided by tourists. This paper sought to identify negative environmental impacts as well as eco – friendly practices in tourism, with a view to excluding the former and building the later into Nigeria's tourism development. Forms of environmental impact spawned by tourism were discussed.

LINKING TRUST WITH CYNICISM TOWARDS CHANGE: ARE MEN AND WOMEN DIFFERENT?
The study examined the influence of political trust and gender on perceived cynicism towards change on fuel subsidy removal among Nigerians. 350 participants which comprises of 217 males and 133 females in Ado Local Government Area of Ekiti State, Nigeria participated in the study. Self-designed questionnaires were used to gather data for the study. Results revealed that there was a significant main effect of perceived political trust on cynicism towards removal of fuel subsidy by Nigerians [F (1, 349) = 50.21; P <. 05].

INFLUENCE OF RELIGIOUSITY AND GENDER ON SUICIDE INTENTION AMONG YOUTH IN NORTH-CENTRAL NIGERIA
This study examined the influence of religiosity and gender on suicide intention among youths in northern Nigeria. Opinions of three hundred participants were randomly sampled using a battery of test. The research was a survey. Questionnaires were used for data collection; the questionnaires include religiosity scale and suicide intent scale. Three hypotheses were generated and tested in the study. The result revealed that there is no significant interaction effect of religiosity and gender on suicide intention among youths in northern Nigeria. [F (1, 296) = 16.48; P> .05].

The typical image of the girl child is that of someone either timid or inept in exhibiting boldness or merely an object for sensual gratification. The society in general makes the girl-child feel inferior by limiting her opportunities. This paper titled nurturing the girl-child with self esteem in the contemporary society aimed at stimulating the interest of parents and stakeholders into acquiring the skills in developing the girl child and her self esteem, for the challenges in the contemporary society.
