At present the institute publishes seventy different journals in English or French, cutting across all subject areas. Obituary:
Dr. Bede Okon Asuquo died on September 27, 2008 and was buried on October 31 2008 in an elaborate ceremony conducted by University of Uyo, Nigeria and the Akwa Ibom State Government. The Institute sent high power delegation headed by the president Dr. Aniekan Offiong. Until his appointment, he was a Council Member of IRDI and the Editor of the Journal of Research in Physical Sciences. Dr. Bede Asuquo contributed immensely to the growth of the institute financial and intellectually. Dr. Bede Asuquo was an associate professor in the Department of Physics, University Uyo, Nigeria. He was an elder stateman. He serves as the Commissioner of Finance and Economic Planning in the Old Cross River State of Nigeria. He was the Pioneer Commissioner of Finance in Akwa Ibom State at it's creation in September 23, 1987. He also served as the Commissioner of Education in Akwa Ibom State of Nigeria between January 4th, 1989 – February, 1990. Dr. Asuquo held Deanship and Headship positions for many years both at the University of Calabar, and University of Uyo, Nigeria where he spent most of his working life as an academia. He published extensively in field of Engineering Physics. Dr. Asuquo is survived by a wife, many children and grand children. The institute will miss his fatherly role.
CENTRE FOR ADVANCE TRAINING AND RESEARCH
This Centre trains student on Research methods and assist them carryout development oriented research. The following programmes are available:
1. Certificate in Report writing and Seminar Presentation designed for final years student of Polytechnics, Colleges of Education and other Monotechnics.
2. Certificate in Research Methods and Project Presentation design for final year student in the universities.
3. Postgraduate Certificate in Research Method and Thesis Presentation design for Masters Students.
4. Postgraduate Certificate in Research and Publication design for Lecturers/Researchers who wish to improve their research and publication output
5. Postgraduate Certificate in Research Method and Dissertation designed for Doctorate Students
The centre has a rich research Library with thousands of Journal Volumes, virtual libraries and 24 hours Internet Facilities. Statisticians are also on ground to assist in statistical analysis. The Certificate Programme is a year long programme that will require only 2 weeks of residency in the Institute. Most other activities will be by correspondence.
CONTINUING EDUCATION CENTRE
This Centre trains workers and assist them to grow on the job. The Centre also caters for people who for one reason or the other had their Education interrupted but will still desire to further. The following programmes are available:
1. SSCE, JAMB and Universities Aptitude Preparatory Classes.
2. Conferences, Workshops, Seminars, Lectures for Senior Executives.
3. Short Courses for workers in Government, Non-Governmental and Private Enterprise
