About US

Deltona [Dedicated Education and Learning to Nations] is a community project of the International Research and Development Institute [IRDI]. The IRDI is an independent institution established in 1997 by a leading scholar Prof. Aniekan Offiong for the purpose of increasing the understanding of research and development problems confronting the developing world. An integral part of this task it to develop local capacity through formal Education. Deltona International Schools are centres established by the International Research and Development Institute in its effort to develop local capacity through formal education. As part of it community project the IRDI build the Place of Learning in Uyo and dedicated it for use in providing Nursery, Primary and Secondary Education to its Neighbourhood. The Place of Learning building project started in 2009 and was completed in 2014. In September 4, 2015, Prof and Mrs. Aniekan Offiong, President and Vice President of International Research and Development Institute started the Deltona International School in the IRDI Place of Learning with 30 teaching staff and 500 pupils of the Deltona International Nursery and Primary Schools. This number was a miracle as the IRDI and made provision for only 100 pioneer pupils. Thank God for providing the institute the additional resource needs to cope with the surge in that first year of operation. This was a clear indication that the community was willing to partner with institute in providing Dedicated Education and Learning to Nations [DELTONA]. In September 2016 Deltona International Schools had a total student enrollment of over 1000, 800 pupils in the Nursery and Primary section which opened a year ago and 200 students in the secondary section which just open it doors in that September 2016.

The Manager of the Deltona School system is Mr. Unyime Bassey Asuquo who is also the Director General of the International Research and Development Institute. The Head Teacher of the Deltona International Nursery and Primary School is Mrs. Mercy Obiageri Ihetu. The Principal of the Deltona International Secondary School is Mr. Geofrey Mboutidem Robinson. The Deputy Manager of the Deltona Schools system is Mr. Imo Amos. In the opening of Deltona International Schools the founder Prof. Aniekan Offiong was greatly inspired by his parent. His father spent most of his adult life as a School Principal and Administrator in the Akwa Ibom State of Nigeria Secondary School Management System while his mother served the Akwa Ibom State Government as a School Teacher for most of her working life retiring in 2013 after serving as Headmistress in several Schools. Deltona International Schools was established on the premise that the bedrock of a good education is at the formative age of a child’s growth. At Deltona International School all basic learning and teaching necessities are at the back and calls of students and teachers. At present the Deltona International Schools system have a Nursery, Primary and Secondary School located at our headquarters at No. 210/212 Calabar Itu Highway, Urua Ekpa Junction, Uyo, Akwa Ibom State, Nigeria. Work as reached advanced stage for the establishment of Deltona International Schools at Ikot Itie Udung, Nsit Atai L.G.A., Akwa Ibom State, Nigeria. In addition to the Nursery, Primary and Secondary Schools this centre will also host the Deltona University Foundation College.

Deltona Mission

EVENTS

There are three major annual events observed by the Deltona International Schools. Graduation Ceremony, Inter House Sport Competition and End of Year Party. All Deltona Schools major events are done on the grounds of the Palace of Learning which serves as an open air auditorium and mini sport stadium.

GRADUATION CEREMONY

The Close of the Third Term is usually mark by the Graduation Ceremony. This events involves all the students as it is also the Prize Giving Day. There are four categories of graduands Nursery Graduands, Primary graduands and senior secondary graduands. See photo galleries of previously graduation ceremonies.

INTER HOUSE SPORT COMPETITION

Inter house sport competition are usually held in the middle of the second term. There are four houses in Deltona School. Blue House, Green House, Red House and Yellow House. END OF YEAR PARTY
