  • DR. ANIEKAN OFFIONG

    Dr. Aniekan Offiong has been at the University of Uyo, Nigeria since 1998. As a pioneer Head of Department of Mechanical Engineering, he contributed immensely to the development of the Engineering curriculum at the University of Uyo. He has also been in the faculty at University of Nigeria, Nsukka between 1994-1998. Born at Uyo, he attended Federal Government College, Ikot Ekpene between 1979-1984 and the University of Nigeria, Nsukka between 1984-1997. He holds a bachelor, masters, and doctorate degree in Mechanical Engineering with specialization in Industrial Engineering and Management. He is a member of several professional organizations including the Nigerian Society of Engineers, the Nigerian Institution of Production Engineers and the IRDI Research and Development Network. He is also a registered Engineer with the council for the regulation of Engineering in Nigeria. In 1999, during the transition to civil rule in Nigeria he was a member of Akwa Ibom State Transition Committee on public utility. His primary research interests are in maintenance and scheduling where he has authored a number of books including; Maintenance Management and Techniques; Foundation Models in Maintenance: Theory and Application; and Coordinated Maintenance. He is a co-author of Principles of Engineering Project Management. Dr. Offiong’s publication include articles in: Renewable Energy, Nigerian Journal of Engineering Management, Journal of Nigerian Institute of Production Engineers, Journal of Scientific and Industrial Studies, Journal of Science and Technology Research and Journal of Research in Engineering. He is currently working on the development of introductory textbooks for Engineering Students. He has been the Editor-in-Chief of the Global Journal of Mechanical Engineering since 2000. He is an Editorial Consultant to Nigerian Journal of Mechanical Engineering. He currently serves on the board of Directors of World Research and Development Organization and is an active member of the Pan-African Movement. Dr. Aniekan Offiong is the President of the International Research and Development Institute.

    Paramole, Kabir Olawale is a lecturer Grade 1 at the Lagos State University, Ojo, Department of Religions, Faculty of Arts. An indigene of Lagos State, who obtained his first and second degrees at LASU in 1992 and 1998 respectively. Presently, he is pursuing a Ph.D programme in Islamic studies at the same university. He Joined the services of LASU in 1996 and he has contributed tremendously towards the socio-moral and academic developments of his department in particular and the university in general. He was the General Studies co-ordinator in his faculty between 1996 – 2001; he has been as associate lecturer of Islamic studies for Sandwich Degree Programme of Adeniran Ogunsanya College of Education from 2001 till date; since 2005 to date, he has been the programme officer for diploma in Arabic and Islamic studies, LASU and currently the co-coordinator for Part-Time Bachelor of Arts degree in Islamic Studies at the university. Paramole, Kabir Olawale has been the academic adviser of the faculty of Arts Students' Association, LASU, since 2003 till now. He has also been the academic adviser to Lagos Island students Association since 2002 till date. Between 2004 – 2009, he was the secretary of the Faculty of Arts Time-table committee and at the present, he is the chairman of the committee. He has also been the Record Officer of his department from 2004 till date; Assistant Secretary "Al-Hadaarah" Journal of Arabic and Islamic studies from 2006 till date and representative of Arts on Faculty Board of Social Sciences, LASU from 2008 till Date. Aside his academic contributions to the university, he has also partaken in other activities outside the university scene. He has been a supervising officer for the Joint Admissions Matriculation and Examination Board since 2001 till date. Also, between 2001 to present, he has been an Islamic scholar/consultant at the Lagos State Muslim Association of Nigeria between1991 to 2006 and currently the Chief Missioner of Jejewiyyat in Nigeria and Overseas. In 2009, he was a member of the Ad-Hoc Committee on Hajj of Lagos State Muslim Pilgrims Welfare Board. Paramole is a recipient of some scholarship and several honorary awards. He has presented a number of papers at conferences within and outside the country. His primary research interests are in hadith, Islamic Ethnics and Contemporary Issues where he has authored a number of books which include: "Ethical Themes in the Forty Traditions of Imam Nawawi"; "Ethics in Islam: An Analytical Study". His publications include articles in the Muslim World League Journal, Makah – Riyadh, Journal of National Association of Teachers of Arabic and Islamic Studies; Journal of National Association for the Study of Religions; Journal of International Research and Development Institute; Journal of Oriental and African Studies Athens - Greece, LASU Journal of Humanities, etc. His works can also be found in the following books: Crime Management in Nigeria; Economic and Political Reconstruction in Nigeria: An Islamic Perspective; National Open University of Nigeria Book of Reading; Reading in Religion and Culture; Correlates of Islam, etc. He is a member of learned societies and professional associations such as: The National Association of Teachers of Arabic and Islamic Studies (NATAIS); Nigeria Association for the study of Religions (NASR); The ESPRIT Lagos, International Research and Development Institute (IRDI) and John Humphrey International Centre, Canada.

    Dr. Francis Friday Nchuchuwe was born on December 4, 1959. He attended Local Authority Primary School, Ikeja where he obtained his First School Leaving Certificate.Thereafter, he attended Victory High School, Ikeja, for hisWest African School Certificate and much later went to the University of Benin, Benin City, Nigeria where he bagged his first degree (First Class Honour, M.sc and Ph.d in Public Administration. His research area is in Local Government with bias for Local Government Finance. He has been with the Lagos State University, since March, 2001, teaching and researching into Local Government matters. He is a member of many professional bodies including Nigeria Institute of Management, National Association of Public Administration and Management. He is currently the Managing Editor of the journal of Public Administration and Management published by the Public Administration Unit of the Department of Industrial Relations and Public Administration, Lagos State University, Ojo, Lagos. He is married with children.

    onyemaechi Joseph Onwe, Ph.D. (Econs), M. Sc (Env. Sciences), B. Sc (Business Management) is a quantitative economist. He is a development specialist with bias in Dynamic/Growth models. He attended Awgu High School, Nenwe, Holy Ghost College, Owerri, and the University of Wisconsin, U. S. A. As a pioneer Director, Enugu State University of Science and Technology (ESUT) Business School, pioneer Director ESUT Institute for Entrepreneurial Studies, Dr. Onwe has made numerous contributions to both academics and business community. He has been on the faculty of Social Sciences, University of Ibadan between 1986 and 1987. He has co-authored many books on Business Statistics and economic principles, and has written books in Research Methodology. His academic publications on quantitative techniques recognise difficulties often encountered by students by making his writings learner friendly. He has served as external examiner in development and management related programmes for local and international Universities. Dr. Onwe has been running consultancy services for small business entrptreneurs, State Governments, and the Nigerian Army. He has member in many honorary societies including, Nigerian Economic Society (NES), National ILO/NECA Network on Small and Medium Enterprises Development, National Association of Small and Medium Enterprises (NASME), The West African Research and Innovation Management Association WARIMA), and Nigerian Society of Agricultural Engineers (NSAE). He has also been honored with the International WHO's WHO of Professionals award. Dr. Onwe is currently serving as a Programme Leader and Associate Professor with the School of Business and Human Resources Management, National Open University of Nigeria, Lagos.

(2000) Textile Science and Technology from Ahmadu Bello University Zaria. Worked for about 14years at Arewa Textile Plc. Kaduna where he rose to the rank of Deputy Weaving Manager. M. M. Bukhari Joined the Academia in 2003 by taking an appointment with Kogi State Polytechnic Lokoja. In 2005 he moved his services to Ahmadu Bello University Zaria and started his PhD. program in 2007. Mal.. Bukhari wrote so many journal papers and attended so many Scientific conferences. His area of interest is Polymer composite. Bukhari is a member of many Professional organizations among them are the Association of Textile Technologist of Nigeria (ATTN), Material Society of Nigeria (MSN), Polymer Institute of Nigeria (PIN), And indeed member the League of Researchers of the of the International Research and Development Institute

    Dr. Rebecca has been at the University Of Uyo since 2008. As a lecturer in the department of science education, she has contributed immensely to the development of the science education curriculum at the University Of Uyo. Born at Abakaliki in Ebonyi state, she attended the apostolic church secondary school, Ikot Oku Nsit between 1975-1980 and the University Of Calabar, Calabar between 1982-1986. She holds a B.sc (Hons.) degree in chemistry, M.sc (Analytical Chemistry) from the University of Ibadan; a PGDE (In Education) and a PhD (Chemistry Education) from the University Of Uyo, Uyo. She is a member of several professional organizations including the curriculum organization of Nigeria (CON), Science Teachers Association of Nigeria (STAN), Nigerian Association for Media and Technology (NAEMT), Educational Research Network for West Africa (ERNWACA) Nigeria. Her primary research interests are female Science educators.   • DR. IRENEUS CHUKWUDI NWAIZUGBO

    Dr Ireneus Chukwudi Nwaizugbo was born into the family of late Benedict and Agnes Nwaizugbo of Ogu village Umuchu in Aguata LGA of Anambra state on the 17th day of June, 1957. He had his early education at Our Lady of Fatima primary school, Amihie Umuchu from 1964 to 1971. The parents of Dr Nwaizugbo, though lovers of education could not afford the cost of training the young Chukwudi in Secondary School hence after one year in Commercial School at Holy Cross Commercial School, Aba in 1972, began to serve as an apprentice trader dealing on patent medicine at Aba from 1973 1976. Chukwudi completed his apprenticeship but because he could not raise the requisite capital did not start his own business. As a resort, his maternal Uncle got him an employment as a messenger at the Ministry of Establishment, Anambra State in 1976. This actually marked the starting point of Chukwudi Nwaizugbo's career. Following the strong desire he had for education, on receiving his first salary, immediately registered with the Rapid Result College, a correspondence institution based in London for his GCE ordinary level. By November, 1977, he sat for the GCE exams and passed in 5 papers, and a second sitting in 1978 with credit passes in 4 papers including English and Math. In 1979, he sat for GCE Advanced level and passed in two papers. In 1980, he took another correspondence tuition with the National School of Salesmanship and obtained a Diploma in Salesmanship. In 1981, he got admission into the University of Nigeria to begin a professional career in Marketing. Presently, he has a Bachalors degree in Marketing (1985), Masters' degree in Marketing (1990), and a PhD in Marketing (2005). Chukwudi Nwaizugbo's employment followed his progression in academics. From his humble beginning as a Messenger in 1976, he became a clerical staff in 1979 and eventually resigned his civil service employment in 1992 as a Personnel Officer to pick up lecturing appointment with his Department of Marketing as Lecturer II. Through this noble profession, Chukwudi has contributed to the intellectual development of humanity both within and outside University of Nigeria. He has risen to the rank of Senior Lecturer, and has also served as the Head of Department of Marketing University of Nigeria from 2006 to 2008. His areas of interest include Marketing Research and Analyses; Marketing Education and Entrepreneurship Development; Marketing theory and principles, and e-marketing. Dr Nwaizugbo has published several articles in professional journals; written a book on Principles of Marketing; and has contributed many book chapters. He has also attended and presented papers at various Conferences both locally and internationally. He has equally participated in a number of research assignments and consultancy services for local and international organizations. Dr Nwaizugbo is a Member, Institute of Management Consultants of Nigeria; Member, National Institute of Marketing of Nigeria; Associate Fellow, African Institute for Applied Economics and Member, International Academy of African Business Development. The Ad-hoc positions he has held include: Chairman, LOC, 2007 NASME Conference in Enugu. Chairman, LOC, 2007 NIMN Marketing Educators' Conference. Chairman, organizing committee, 2006 Consumers' Summit by Enugu Chapter of NIMN. Supervisor and Yobe State team leader for the 2006 SEEDS benchmarking exercise organized by the National Planning Commission, Abuja. Dr Nwaizugbo takes active interest in contributing to the development of his community both in his place of residence and in the home town. He is a Christian of Catholic denomination. He sees the practice of his faith as an intrinsic part of his life hence strives to live his faith in his workplace and daily life. He believes that God is the one that crowns our efforts with good results hence we must always reverence Him even through our service to mankind. Dr Nwaizugbo is married with children.

    Mr. Cyprian Erumiseli Oshoma has been at the University of Benin, Benin City, Nigeria since 2007. As a Lecturer in the Department of Microbiology, he is currently one of the Course advisers in the Department. Born in Anegbette, Edo state, he attended Our Lady of Fatima College, Auchi, Edo State, between 1984 – 1990. Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, Kaduna State, between 1993 – 1999 and University of Benin, Benin City, Edo State, between 2002 – 2004. He holds a Bachelor and Master degree in Microbiology in the area of specialization in Food and Industrial Microbiology. He is presently working on his Ph.D research in the area of Food and Industrial Microbiology to major on bioethanol production from waste. He is a registered member of Nigeria Society for Microbiology. Mr. Oshoma's publication include articles in Nigeria Journal of Microbiology, Pakistan Journal of Nutrition, African Journal of Biotechnology, World of Agricultural Sciences and International Journal of Biosciences.     Adu Funmilayo M. has been lecturing in the department of History, University of Ado Ekiti since 2000. As an Assistant lecturer she contributed immensely to the change of nomenclature from History Department to Department of History and International Studies. She was also instrumental to the establishment of the department at the part- time level and has been a coordinator of the department's part- time program since 2004. Born at Abeokuta in Ogun state, she attended the Emmanuel Anglican School in Ado Ekiti for her primary education, from where she proceeded to the Federal Government College, Lantang, in Plateau state between, 1980-1985, and the University of Benin between 1986-1990. She holds a B.A. Hons degree in History, a professional masters degree and an M.SC in International relation from the Obafemi Awolowo University between 1992-1994, 2001-2007 respectively. She is currently on her Ph.D program in International Relations at the Political Science department, University of Ado Ekiti. Her previous academic research interests are on International Organizations. She has also researched into the environments of Gender, Conflicts and Globalisation. She is currently working on Race, Ethnicism, Conflict, Diasporic Relations and Nation building. She is a member of the Nigerian Institute of Intermational Affairs and the IRDI, Research and Development Network. Her current book research is on the Commonwealth and Current Issues in interstate relations. Her dynamism and interest in current issues have created a cross disciplinary research and publication of articles in the Journals of Political science, Arts, Gender Institute Studies, International Affairs, Niger Delta Research and Conflict studies. She has also contributed book chapters on Globalisation and Development.

    Akiang Joseph was born in 1971 to the family of late Sir Sylvester Angiagieye Akiang of Igwo village in Obudu Local Government Area of Cross River State, Nigeria. He had his early education at convent primary school Obudu from 1976 – 1982 and St. Patrick's Technical College Ugep from 1982-1988 where he obtained the first school leaving certificate and the senior school certificate respectively. He further attended the Cross River State College of Education Akamkpa from 1993-1996 graduating with Distinction in Geography. He moved to Calabar in 1997 and later studied Geography at the University of Calabar, graduating in 1999 with second class upper division. In 2003, he enrolled into the Institute of Geosciences and Space Technology, Rust, Nigeria where he studied environmental management. Akiang Joseph has taught Geography in various schools including: Government Technical College Bendi, Federal Government Girls College Calabar and Ezzamgbo Boys Secondary School Ohaukwu, Ebonyi State. He had a stint in Showers International High School Port-Harcourt from 2005-2006 before becoming a lecturer at the Federal College of Education Obudu, Cross River State. Akiang Joseph is a prolific writer on scientific and social issues with a clear engaging style that convey his enthusiasm for intellectual enquiry for all aspects of the natural world. He has authored two books titled: Career opportunities for Geographers, and the second titled: Floods and Flood control: A Global perspective which will be out of press in December, 2010. He has also authored papers in mainstream scientific and educational journals, some of which includes: The alternative Forum, Journal of environmental Sciences, The Orient Journal, Journal of Teacher perspective, Nigeria Journal of Teacher Education and Teaching , Journal of Education Media and Technology, Journal of Vocation Education, The Nigeria Journal of Research and Production, International Journal of Higher Education Research, International Journal of Sustainable Development and the International Journal of Development Studies. His primary research interest is in biodiversity conservation. He is also a member of several professional associations, some of which are: The Association of Nigeria Geographers, Association of Nigeria Teachers, Nigeria Primary and teacher Education Association, International Research and Development Network, International Center for Education and Development, National Association for Research Development and the Nigeria Association for Educational Media and Technology. Akiang Joseph is a devout Catholic and a member of The Ancient and Noble Order of the Knights of St. John International. He is married and currently lives in Obudu with his beloved wife Ungieken.

    Dr M.O. Ayeomoni hails from Okitipupa in Ondo state. He bagged his Bachelor Degree in English in 1986,Masters and Doctorate degrees in English from Universities of Lagos, Akoka Lagos, and University of Ibadan, Ibadan respectively. He worked briefly as a lecturer with the Ondo state polytechnic, Owo (now Rufus Giwa Polytechnic) before proceeding to Adeyemi College of Education, Ondo, as a lecturer in English. In 1998, he joined the service of the Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-ife as an assistant lecturer. Currently, he is a senior lecturer in the Department of English of the university. He is widely published both locally and internationally. His research field of interest is Linguistic Stylistics

    Dr Usman Haruna, an Associate Professor and Head, Department of Agricultural Economics and Extension, Abubakar Tafawa Balewa Universitym Bauchi has been involved in teaching both undergraduate and postgraduate courses in Agricultural Economics since 1997. Born at Hadejia, Jigawa State in 1965; he attended Usman Danfodiyo University, Sokoto, where he obtained a Bachelors degree in Agriculture in 1989. Later in 1995 he obtained a Masters degree in Agricultural Economics from Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University, Bauchi. Also, he obtained his PhD in Agricultural Economics in 2002, from the same University. Dr Haruna worked as an Agricultural Planning Officer with both Kano and Jigaawa States between 1990 to 1997. He is also, involved in several research activities. His major areas of research include: Sustainable Agricultural Production Systems, Farm Management, Agricultural Marketing, Agricultural Policy and Develpoment. As a prolific writer, Dr. Haruna authored and co-authored the following books 1. Commodity Chain Analysis of Cattle: A Case Study of KRIP Area, Kano State. 2. A andbook of Home Economics 3. Perspectives of Fadama Development in Nigeria. He is also an Associated Editor of the Journal of Researh in Agriculture, Farm Management Association of Nigeria (FAMAN) Journal, Continental Journal of Agricultural Economics and Continental Journal of Agricultural Sciences as well as the co-editor of the Proceedings of the 9th Annual National Conference of the Nigerian Association of Agricultural Economics. Futhermore, he published more than 40 academic articles in reputable national and international journals. Dr. Haruan also, supervised 12 theses of Msc and PhD students; and he is a member of six academic associations, including the Research and Development Network. He was also involved in consultancy activities with the Fadama II Project of the World Bank in Bauchi State and the F.C.T. Abuja ADPs; and a Lead Reseacher (Team Leader) for the Evaluation of the Processes and Impact of the UNICEF Country Programmes in Bauchi State, Nigeria from 2002 to 2007.

    Dr. (Mrs.) Alfreda O. Nwadinigwe is a Senior Lecturer at the University of Nigeria, Nsukka. She joined the University of Nigeria, Nsukka in 1997 and holds a Bachelor's Degree in Botany (1976), Post-Graduate Diploma in Education (1981), Master's Degree in Pharmacognosy (1988) and Ph.D in Ecology (2003). She is a member of several professional organizations including the Science Teachers' Association of Nigeria (STAN), Botanical Society of Nigeria (BOSON), International Association of Vegetation Science (IAVS), Nigerian Society for Biological Conservation (NSBC), Society for Occupational Safety and Environmental Health (SOSEH). She has reviewed several journal articles for the Nigerian Journal of Botany and is one of the editors of the Journal of Biomedical and Health Development. Her research interests include vegetational analysis, patterns and ordination; impact of crude oil pollution on plants and the environment; Bioremediation and phytoremediation of polluted plants and soil; effects of pesticides on plants and the environment; allelopathic reaction of plants; phytochemical, antimicrobial and anti-trypanosome activities of medicinal plants; investigation of plants as sources of biodiesel; air pollution tolerance index of plants, environmental impact assessment and impact of anthropogenic activities on biodiversity. Dr. Nwadinigwe's publications include chapter contributions in "Reading in Botany", journal articles in Pharmaceutical Biology, Transaction of the Nigerian Society for Biological Conservation, Nigerian Journal of Botany, Bio-Research, Journal of Research in Bioscience, International Journal of Chemistry, etc. She is currently working on the development of textbooks for Ecology students in Universities. She has been effectively supervising many undergraduates, Master's students and Ph.D students in Ecology and Medicinal plants. She is involved in the Co-ordination and headship of several committees both in the Department of Botany and in the Faculty of Biological Sciences, University of Nigeria, Nsukka. She renders several community/social/church services that earned her many awards such as "Ezinne", "Nneoma-nwere-ugwu", "Ochiora" and "Queen of Saints" award. Dr. (Mrs.) Nwadinigwe is a winner of the 2008 Distinguished Academic Noble International Award and a Fellow of the Institute of Industrial Administration of Nigeria (NIIA). At present, she looks after the Department of Botany when the current Head of Department is away.

Ajayi is a product of school of basic studies, Kwara college of Technology, Ilorin in the year, 1982, and then proceeded to Ahmadu Bello University the same year to study Mechanical Engineering. and obtain 1st class as the best overall student in the faculty of Engineering after 4 years of studies with the following awards: (i) Dean Annual Prize for the best all round student in the Faculty of Engineering, (ii) Nigerian Breweries Prize as the best part III student, (iii) Nigerian Breweries Prize as the best final year Mechanical Engineering student overall performance over 4 years, (iv) ELF (Nigeria) Limited Prize for the best overall performance over 4 years by Mechanical Engineering student in the subject of Fluid Mechanics, (v) Mobil Oil Prize for the best final year Mechanical Engr. Design Project, (vi) West African Portland Cement Prize for the best Mechanical Engineering student in Thermodynamics over 2 years of study. After the compulsory one year national service to the nation, he was offered an appointment by Ahmadu Bello University as research assistant with centre for energy research and training and later joint the Department of Mechanical Engineering as lecturer saddled with teaching and research activities till 1991, when he was awarded common wealth and DAAD scholarships for PhD research work in Great Britain and Western Germany respectively, but opted for the latter. As DAAD scholar in Germany, he handled some projects with Siemens and BMW in collaboration with Germany University, and later completed his Ph.D in Thermofluid, Mechanical Engineering. After graduation as Docktor Ingineur, he practiced awhile before joining the service of the University of Lagos as Lecturer involved in teaching, research and supervision of both post graduate and undergraduate students. The research areas vary from fluid flows, combustion, automobiles to power plant efficiency. Dr. Ajayi has written many articles in both local and international journals and is a member of many societies, including, the Nigerian Society of Engineers, Institution of Mechanical Engineers, International Research and Development Institute.

    Adeyeye, Mercy Modupe is a veteran teacher and counsellor in the art of business and accounting for many years in the secondary school and the community where she found herself. She rose to the level of an assistant director in the Kwara State Teaching Service Commission before transferring her service to the Department of General Studies in the Federal University of Technology, Minna in 2005. She handled both the undergraduate and postgraduate students in management related courses. She commenced her basic training at the Anglican College of Commerce, Offa and emerged with division one in 1977. Due to poor guidance, she proceeded to the Federal College of Education in 1978 for Business Education and subsequently to Ahmadu Bello University where she obtained her first degree in Business Education with second class upper. Her personal experience of poor guidance combined with interest and passion for the youth made her go for a Master's degree in Educational Guidance and Counselling at the University of Ilorin. In order to harmonise her career, she had to go for another Master's degree in Finance at the University of Calabar, Calabar. Mrs. Adeyeye is a member of some professional bodies like the National Association of Technical Teachers; National Association of Business Educators; Counsellors Association of Nigeria, the IRDI Research Development Network and few others. She held several administrative responsibilities when in the secondary school service and even now in the University. Dr. Akoma obtqined his PH.D in Botany He served as a Technical Expert of the Federal Republic of Nigeria to the Federal Democratic Republic Ethiopia under the auspices of the Technical Aid Corps between 2006 and 2008. During this period he taught several plant biology courses at both graduate and undergraduate levels. Dr. Akoma's research interests include; Primary productivity, pre and post impact studies with emphasis on phytoplankton and macro-algae in freshwater, brackish and marine environments; Pollution studies and water quality assessment using biological indices and developing scientific models for solving environmental impact problems. As a teacher he prefers challenging his students and has wide experience in application of ICT in teaching/learning process with strong preference for student-centered active learning methods.     TPL. Omolabi, Abimbola was born at Otan-Ayegbaju, in Boluwaduro Local Government Area of Osun State, Nigeria. He later attended University of Ibadan, Nigeria and graduated with a Bachelor of Science honours degree in Geography (second class upper). He later proceeded to University of Reading in England where he bagged a Masters of Philosophy degree in Environmental Planning. He is currently a doctoral candidate at the University of Ibadan, Nigeria. His area of research interest includes; Settlement Habitability, Urban Environmental Quality and Urban Dwellers Health. TPL. Omolabi is a member of several professional and academic bodies including Nigerian Institute of Town Planners, Town Planner Registration Council of Nigeria. He is an Associate Member of the Royal Town Planning Institute. He is a member of the Nigerian Environmental Society, and the Nigerian Conservation Foundation. He worked with the Plateau State Polytechnic, Barkin-Ladi, Jos as a Lecturer between 1991 and 1992, where he coordinated the Urban and Regional Planning Department, and launched the department to limelight. At the international level, he worked as an Urban Planner Specialist with the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) Addis Ababa, Ethiopia for capacity building between 1999 and 2006. While working with UNDP in Addis Ababa, he served as a Team Leader in the preparation of Master Plans for many urban centres and urban renewal projects including Wolliso in Ahamara Region, Arat -Kilo in Addis Ababa, and Tis-Abay in Tigray Region of Ethiopia. In the course of his consultancy with UNDP, he contributed immensely towards the liveability and habitability of cities as well as the quality of life of urban dwellers in Ethiopia through the dissemination of research work that led to policy formulation and execution of urban development projects in the country. Within the same set-up, he worked as a Consultant/ lecturer (Associate Professor) at the Ethiopian Civil Service College, where he acted as Head of Department of Urban and Regional Planning, a unit which he coordinated very well. While in the College, he contributed immensely to the development of the institution in terms of curriculum development, research activities, urban planning projects and training of professionals who have occupied enviable position in the country of Ethiopia. Brought up in the very busy central city of Kaduna State, Nigeria, he attended Army Children School (1986-1991), Hawad International Secondary School, Barnawa GRA, (1991-1997) and Computer Professional Institute (CPI), Enugu, where he obtained a Diploma in Basic Computer Engineering in 2001. From 2002 to 2008, Onyedikahi read for a bachelor of Engineering degree in Electronic Engineering at the University of Nigeria, Nsukka, during which he undertook a six- month Industrial Training (IT) with CELTEL (Now ZAIN) Nigeria, where he was fully exposed to Tele communications and satellite technology in practical terms. His passionate interest in communication electronics informed the choice of his degree project, "The Design And Construction Of An Rf Spectrum Gsm-Based Remote Control For Domestic Appliances," which he undauntedly carried out successfully. This same interest led him into researches in satellite technology, as well as the physics and electronics of solar electricity generating systems. Onyedikachi is a member of several professional organizations, including the Institute of Electrical Electronic Engineers (IEEE)'s Communications Society; Electrical Electronic Design Club (EEDIC), and the Creative Youth Research Fellowship (CYRF), UNN Branch.     I. Gerarh Umaru was born in 1967 in Kaduna, Nigeria. He had his early education at Kaduna. Hails from central Kaduna, Umaru is a postgraduate (PhD and MSc Economics) of Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria and a 1988 graduate (BSc Economics) of the same university. He is currently a doctoral student in the Department of Geography, Nasarawa State University, Keffi-Nigeria. Aside from his teaching experience which spans over a decade, Umaru had a six-year stint with the banking industry and another six with the civil service and development finance industry. His main area of specialization is environmental and natural resource economics and has his research interests in arid and climate change economics, transport and health economics as well as violent conflict. Umaru has provided consultancy service to private consulting firms, government agencies and non governmental organizations. He has worked/collaborated on projects sponsored by international development partners such as the World Bank, UNICEF, WHO, DFID and USAID. He has also participated in many conferences, seminars and workshops both internationally and locally. Over the years, Umaru has established himself as a prolific writer with well over sixty publications to his credit. As a Senior Lecturer in the Department of Economics at Nasarawa State University Keffi, Umaru is a visiting lecturer in a number of universities across the country.

    Mr. John Friday Eze joined the Federal Polytechnic, Kaura Namoda, Zamfara State, Nigeria as an Assistant Lecturer in 1993. Since then he has risen to the post of Principal lecturer. He is also a member of Nigerian Institute of Management (Chartered), International Research and Development Institute and National Association of Entrepreneurship Educators.     Mr. Abiodun R. Bowale is a Nigerian and a scholar in the field of Geography. He attended University of Port Harcourt for his first degree (1984 – 1988) and graduated with an Upper Second Class Honours in Geography. He also won the prize of the Best Graduating Student in Geography (1988) from the same institution. He also attended Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria (A.B.U.), 2000 – 2005, and graduated with Master of Science in Geography (M. Sc.) with Geomorphology as his area of specialization. He taught Geography for slightly over a decade (1990 – 2001) at Dawakin Kudu Science College and at Dawakin Tofa Science College both in Kano State where he rose to the position of head, Department of Geography and was in charge of the review of the Geography curriculum and also the setting, moderation and coordination of the geography papers for the terminal examinations for all the schools under the board (Kano State Science Board). He was also an examiner (Geography 1B) with the West African Examinations Council (W. A. E. C.) for over a decade and also served as the Team Leader In-Charge of Geography 1B in the old Kano State, now Kano and Jigawa states, for more than half a decade in both the May-June and November-December examinations. Currently, he is a lecturer at the Niger Delta University, Bayelsa State, where he teaches a wide variety of courses: Physical Geography, Geomorphology, Hydrology, Pedology (Soil Studies), Statistics and Map Reading and Interpretation among others. He has publications in his area of specialization and in some others in a few journals such as Journal of Environmental Research and Policies, Journal of Geography and the Environment, Benin Journal of Social Sciences, African Journal of Educational Management and Planning and West African Journal of Pedagogy and Educational Development. Mr. kojigili is a member of a number of professional bodies such as the Mathematical Association of Nigeria (MAN), Curriculum Organization of Nigeria (CON), IRDI Research and Development Network and a registered member of the Teachers' Registration Council (TRC). He is a pioneer staff of Adamawa State University Mubi, Nigeria and has been the unit head of mathematics of the Pre-degree and Remedial Programme before he moved to the department of Science Education of the University in 2007.     Emmanuel Gana was born in a small village called Pati Emitsuzhiko in October 20th, 1973 in Niger of Nigeria. With the National Certificate in Education (1992), Mr. Gana taught briefly at Nasarawa Teachers' College, Kainji and was later posted to Government Model School, Bida where he taught for 9 years. For economic reason, he was not able to further his education even when offered admission in 1993/1994 and 1994/1995 sessions. He however encouraged himself with the support of his loving wife by proceeding to Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria in 2001 where he obtained Bachelor and Masters degrees in Education in 2004 and 2008 respectively with specialization in Christian Religious Studies. He joined the services of Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria in 2006 as a graduate assistant and subsequently upgraded to Assistant Lecturer in 2008. Got Post Graduate Diploma in Education from UNIBEN In 1986. Had master of Fine Arts (M.F.A. Textiles) in 1992 at the University of Nigeria, Nsukka and finally awarded a doctorate degree in Art History at Delta State University, Abraka in 2006. I started my career as an artist with the then Bendel State Government as a secondary school teacher in Anglican Girls Grammar School, Ozoro, then Isoko Local Government area from 1985 – 1986 during which the school experienced a lot of socio-cultural activities. The school won many trophies form the National Secondary School Festival of Arts and Culture competition during the period I was there as their Fine Art teacher. I later gained employment with the University of Cross River, now federal University of Uyo from 1986-1998. I single handedly developed the textile section in the Fine Art Department to its admirable state before I transferred to Delta State University, Abraka. The traces of my hard work, training and knowledge given is still found in the school of Art especially in Tapestry weavings. Outside the University programme, I used to organize and teach children "Art making" in NTA porgramme "Children's Art Workshop" at Uyo from 1988-1989. Presently, I am a lecturer, instructor, researcher and consultant in textile programmes in Delta State University, Abraka as a senior lecturer. I was the Head of Department (Fine/Applied Arts) in 2007/2008 academic session in which there was tremendous development in the higher academic programme. Many students who have stayed for six to eleven years of unnecessary academic delay for masters programmes were graduated. I have worked as a course adviser and Examination Officer of 100L – 300L from 2003-2006 academic sessions.     Dr (Mrs.) Temitope Oyedepo joined the services of Emmanuel Alayande College of Education (EACOED) in May, 2002 as a Lecturer III. Born at Ibadan, she attended Awe High School, Awe between 1981 and 1986. Her primary research interests are in bioaccumulation/ biosorption of heavy metals and antioxidants in foods.     Mr. A.O. Salami was born in 1963. He attended Inisa Grammar School between 1977 and 1982. His preliminary academic studies were in Forestry at diploma levels, but subsequently with a Masters degree in Environmental Management Science at Bayero University Kano. He joined the main stream of Forestry Research Institute of Nigeria in 1990 as an Assistant Forest Superintendent. He had however established and managed so far several Agro forestry, shelterbelt, and sand dunes fixation plots in the arid regions of Nigeria. He was redeployed as the head of Melle Experimental Area in Jigawa state, a sub-station of Shelterbelt Research Station Kano, where he stayed between 1987 and 1992. Mr. Salami has over 40 scientific publications in forestry and environmental related fields, and about 50% of these are represented in various national and international journals. He also has a couple of textbooks on forestry and the environment currently passing through the review stages. The first is "Introduction to Sand Dunes Fixation Techniques", while the second co authored with Mr. J.O.Gbadebo is "Technical Problems of Plantation Establishment". His major breakthrough in research (2001, after several years) is grafting of Mangifera indica in the arid and semi-arid regions of Nigeria using a cheap local material (Santana leather) against incubators and green house experiments to create a micro-climate environment for each plant independently. It was christened "top grafting with polycap method". His maiden award received in January, 2010 was issued by International Research and Development Institute as "Member- International Research and Development Network". This is based on the global acceptance of his flamboyant participation in international research and development in forestry and environmental fields with a message: "having noted with delight your brilliant contributions to Sustainable Development through your research activities and publications". He was also enlisted into the "League of Researchers" of the same institute, same year, 2010. The man also belongs to several professional bodies. He is a member of Nigerian Environmental Society, Forestry Association of Nigeria (Assistant Secretary General, Kano State Wing), Kano State Union of Gardeners (Auditor General), among others. Mr. Salami is a Principal Forest Superintendent based at Shelterbelt Research Station, Kano.

    Dr. Adesoji David Jiboye lectures in the Department of Architecture, Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife, Nigeria. Since he joined the Institution in 1994, he has been involved in both academic and administrative activities. As a member of statutory committees at different levels, he has contributed immensely to the development of his Institution. Dr. Jiboye was born in Emure-Ekiti, Ekiti State Nigeria. He first attended Government College Ikorodu and later proceeded to Maryland Comprehensive Secondary School in Lagos between 1977 to1982. He started his study and career in Architecture from the College of Science and Technology in Lagos (now, Lagos Poly) before proceeding to the University of Lagos, Akoka, between 1986 to 1992, where he graduated with a B.E.S, and B, Arch. Degrees in Architecture. On completion of the one year National Youth Service in 1994, he joined the service of the Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife, where he lectures to date. As an academic with specialization in Housing and Urban development studies, he has also in addition to his qualifications in Architecture bagged a masters and doctorate degrees in Urban and Regional Planning from the Obafemi Awolowo University. He is a chartered architect and planner. He is also a member of several academic and professional Organizations including the Nigerian Institute of Architects (NIA), Association of Architectural Educators of Nigeria (AARCHES), Research and Development Network (IRDI), and others. He is registered with the Architects Registration Council of Nigeria (ARCON) – The Body for regulating architectural practice in Nigeria. As a professional architect and planner, he has been involved in the design and execution of several construction works and physical development activities in different parts of Nigeria. As a researcher, Dr. Jiboye has participated in several research works; attended several Conferences, and published many articles in both local and International Journals. His major publications cover areas such as sustainable urbanization, housing, and gender related issues in housing as well as advocacy planning. He currently serves on the editorial board and conference organizing committee of the Faculty of Environmental Design and Management of his Institution.

I attended Hagagawa Primary School .1969-1975, Federal Government College Odogbolu, Ogun State 1975-1980, Bayero University Kano 1980-1985.I hold a Bachelor degree in Physics, a Masters, degree in Radiation Biophysics and PhD Physics in view. I worked as a Physics teacher at Command Secondary School Ipaja, Lagos August 1985-July 1986, Kafin Hausa Senior Secondary School from October 1986 – December 1986. I also worked as physics lecturer at Department of Science Kano Polytechnic, 1988 – 1989, as Vice Principal Foundation Boys Secondary School, Kano from March 1989 – March 1991. I participated as a Nigerian volunteer teacher in the Republic of Namibia under technical Aid Corps Programme (April, 1991-February, 1993). I then worked with Ministry of Basic Education Namibia as Head of Department Physical Sciences at Gabriel Taapopi Senior Secondary School, Ongwediva from June 1993 - December, 1999. Coming back home, I worked with Kano University of Science and Technology, Wudil ,as Physics lecturer, from April 2001 to date. I was the Head of Department Physics, 2002 -2003, Sub Dean, Faculty of Science and Science Education, 2002 -2003, Dean Student Affairs 2003 -2005 and 2007 to date. I am a member National Institute of Physics and International Research and Development Institute. My research field is on radiation effect with particular interest in the effect of irradiation on spectral peak of Natural Indigo Dye that is used by the traditional dyers at Kofar Mata dye pits center in Kano City.

    Dr Josiah C. Okonkwo was born on 24th November, 1964 at Unubi, Nnewi-South Local Government Area of Anambra State. He started his primary education at Central School Ekwulu and Unubi and completed it at Unity Primary School Unubi between 1973 and 1979. He received his secondary education from Boys' Secondary School Unubi between 1979 and 1985. In October 1985, he was admitted to the University of Nigeria, Nsukka (UNN) where he studied Animal Science and came out with second class (Hons) upper division. During his undergraduate days at UNN, he participated actively in the service of God and humanity, and held the posts of President, Ranchers' Association (Animal Science Departmental Association) and Chairman, Akpabio Hall Government (Hostel Chairman). After The compulsory National Youth Service at NYSC farm, Abeokuta, Ogun State, Dr Josiah went back to UNN for Postgraduate study in Animal Breeding and Genetics. During his PG programme, he applied and won the Federal scholarship for postgraduate students in 1992. Immediately after his graduation, he took Part-time employment with Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka, Anambra State. Later, in 1996, Dr Josiah traveled to Israel for the First International Course in Agricultural Biotechnology under the sponsorship of Foreign Affair Ministry of the state of Israel. There in Hebrew University of Jerusalem, Rehovot Campus, he obtained his Postgraduate Diploma in Agricultural Biotechnology. Back in Nigeria, Dr Josiah joined Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka as Lecturer 11 in 2005 and risen to the rank of Lecturer 1 in 2008. He got his PhD in 2009 from Delta State University, Abraka, Delta State. His Ph.D research work in 'Haematological and Cytogenetics indices of Nigerian goat breeds' was presented at FAO/ IAEA International Symposium on Sustainable Improvement of Animal Production and Health, 8- 11 June 2009, Vienna, Austria. In addition, Dr Josiah has carried out a number of research works, good number of which have been presented and published in both local and international conferences, symposia and journals. Dr Josiah's research interest include Genetic structure of the Nigerian indigenous livestocks & 'drumstick' as a tool for predicting their fertility, Genotoxic Pollution of the Anambra River, Anambra State, Nigeria using Micronucleus Assay in Fish Genome, Micronuclei Profile an Index of Chromosomal Aberrations in Freshwater Fishes (Synodontis clarias and Tilapia nilotica) and Effect of season, breed and geographical location on the Micronuclei indices of the Fresh water fishes. At present, Dr Josiah is the Acting Head, Department of Agricultural Biotechnology, Faculty of Agriculture and Biotechnology, Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka.

    Engr. Joseph Ogani is the current head of department of Mechanical Engineering at Akanu Ibiam Federal Polytechnic unwana, Afikpo. He is a pride to engineering profession and a force to reckon with when it comes to teaching and learning at the tertiary level. He was born at Ihuakpu Village, Nkerefi in Nkanu East Local Government Area of Enugu State. He was educated at Boys' Secondary School, Umueze Awkunanaw; the University of Nigeria, Nsukka; Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka and Abia State College of Education, Arochukwu. His sojourn in these institutions fetched him the following qualifications: the West African School Certificate (1979); Bachelor of Engineering (1984); Master of Engineering (2002) and NTTC (2006) in that order. Joseph Ogani did the mandatory National service in the old Bauchi State between 1985 and 1985. He served, first as a Mechanical Engineer with the Bauchi State Ministry of Local Government and Community Development, and later as physics teacher at Government Science Secondary School, Kumo. He worked as Assistant Engineer (Mechanical) at Chiyoda Nigeria Ltd, Kaduna. He was a volunteer at U. Maduka Enterprises Ltd, Enugu in 1987. Afterwards, he left for Ajaokuta Steel Project, Kogi State where he worked as Mechanical Engineer until 1992. Engr. Ogani's career as a lecturer started in 1992 when he was employed as Senior Lecturer at the Institute of Management and Technology (IMT), Enugu. He joined the services of Akanu Ibiam Federal Polytechnic,Unwana as Senior Lecturer in 1994 and was later promoted to his present rank of Chief Lecturer in 2009. He was appointed as the head of the Mechanical Engineering Department way back in 1999. Having ended his first tenure in 2006, he was re-appointed for a second term in 2008. Ogani has served the polytechnic in various capacities aside from his lecturing bit. He is a member of curriculum committee since 1998. He is currently a member of various Investigation Panels of the Polytechnic and a former member of the Rector's Committee on Blue Print for Ebonyi State. He is currently an External Examiner at the Federal Polytechnic, Nekede; and at IMT, Enugu. He is a professional to the core. He is registered with the Council for the Regulation of Engineering in Nigeria (COREN) and also a bonafide member of the Nigeria Society of Engineers. He is also a member of the Nigeria Society of Mechanical Engineers as well as Fellow of the Institute of Corporate Resource Management. He has obtained further professional training from several courses and workshops organized by the Ajaokuta Steel Project; NBTE, Kaduna ; Akanu Ibiam Federal Polytechnic,Unwana; and Old Anambra State Government, Enugu. She was with all her educational attainment; she went to University of Benin, Benin City (2000-2006) and obtained her Doctor of Philosophy in Pharmaceutical Technology and Industrial Pharmacy. At this juncture, Madonna University Elele, spotted her out, woed her and employed her as Senior Lecturer since 2008 to date.     DR. EMMANUEL ESSIEN

    Dr. Emmanuel Essien Bassey has been at the University of Uyo, Nigeria since June, 2000. He attended the Presbyterian School, Ikot Edung/Ekim in Ibiono Ibom LGA (1967-1973) and later proceeded to Lott Carey Baptist Secondary School, Afaha Obio Eno in Ibiono Ibom LGA where he obtained the West African School Certificate in 1979. He studied for the Nigeria Certificate in Education (NCE) at the College of Education, Uyo (1980 – 1983) and specialized in Agricultural Science. After the National Youth service (1983/1984), he studied for the degree of B.Sc (Ed) Hons (Agriculture) at the University of Cross River State, Uyo, between 1989 and 1992) and obtained Second Class (Upper division). He also studied for Master of Science (M.Sc) degree in Crop Science (Plant Breeding and Genetics) at the University of Uyo, Uyo, Nigeria (1993 – 1997). He took appointment with the University of Uyo, in June, 2000 and was granted Staff Development Award to study for the degree of Ph.D in Plant Breeding and Genetics at the Michael Okpara University of Agriculture Umudike, Abia State, Nigeria, from 2002 to 2008. He is the first student to be conferred with the degree of Master of Science (M.Sc) of the Faculty of Agriculture, University of Uyo and the fourth to earn the degree of Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D) in Plant Breeding and Genetics of the Michael Okpara University of Agriculture, Umudike, Nigeria, since its inception. Prior to his appointment by the University of Uyo, he had worked as a part-time Lecturer with the Federal University of Technology, Owerri (Uyo and Eket campuses), National Teachers' Institute (NCE and TC II) Centres, Uyo and Akwa Ibom State College of Education, Afaha Nsit as contributions to National Development. He has written one book, The Compendium of Agricultural Crops and Common Weeds in Akwa Ibom State, and co-authored the book "Man and Ecology". During his postgraduate studies at the University of Uyo, he served as Financial Controller/Treasurer on the Editorial Board, Postgraduate Students Association of the University (1995 – 1997). He is an executive member of the Science Teachers Association of Nigeria, Akwa Ibom State Branch where he serves as Editor-in-Chief (2008 – 2010). He is a member, National Agricultural Science Panel and member, National Technology Panel. He is a certified member of the International Research and Development Institute. He has received several awards including Certificate of Recognition from the World Bible School, California, USA. He is an astute breeder/researcher on economic rewarding crops (maize, rice, sweet potato, yam, cocoyam, cassava, Telfairia and Okra). He has attended and presented papers at sixteen local and international conferences and workshops and awarded certificates. He has written seventeen (17) papers in reputable journals to his credit. He has contributed to national, State and community development. He served as resource person and co-ordinator of the Millennium Development Goals (Science) 2008 and 2009. Resource Person/Examiner for Teachers' Grade II examination at the Ministry of Education, Uyo, Akwa Ibom State; Resource person – Ministry of Agriculture, Uyo, Akwa Ibom State (2001); Quiz Master (Elimination stage) for the Akwa Ibom State/Mobil Producing Nigeria/NNPC Science Quiz Competitions for Secondary Schools in Akwa Ibom State (2009 – 2010). He has been involved in the training and retraining of science teachers organized by the Science Teachers Association of Nigeria, Akwa Ibom State (2000 – 2010). He has served as Assistant Centre Supervisor NCE/DIS of the National Teachers' Institute and Centre Supervisor, Pivotal Teachers Training Programme, Uyo Centre. He has also served as Resource Person/Specialist for University of Uyo Consultancy Limited for the preparation of standard proposal for the training of workers in the National Seeds Council of Nigeria. He has been enlisted on the National Sweet Potato research in Nigeria. At the University of Uyo, he has established the reputation of teaching several undergraduate and postgraduate courses: Genetics and Plant Breeding, Climatology and Biogeography, Crop production techniques, General agriculture, Anatomy, Taxonomy and Physiology, Arable crops production, Horticulture and courses for remedial students. He has co-ordinated many programmes in the Department of Crop Science, University of Uyo: Co-ordinator, Internship Programme (2000 – 2003, 2010); Co-ordinator, Seeds Multiplication project (2001); Co-ordinaor, Departmental Research Programme on Telfairia and leaf area determination (2009); Examination Officer, Department of Crop Science (2009 – 2010); Faculty of Agriculture Representative to Food Science and Technology Department (2008 – Present); Member Disciplinary Committee of Crop Science Department (2001-2002) and Seminar Co-ordinator for undergraduate students of the Department of Crop Science, University of Uyo (2010). He exhibited and distributed hybrid seeds of okra at the Akwa Ibom State International Trade Fair and he was honourred by the Akwa Ibom State Ministry of Agriculture, Uyo. He is currently writing two books that will be published soon: Arable crops production in the humid tropics and Fundamentals of Genetics.
